Good location for getting to Oxford or Banbury. Very pleasant stay.
Took a while to get hot water in the morning and also the drain in the bathroom sink empties very slowly. However, these were minor things and we would stay at this hotel again should we be in the area at some other date.
The proprietors and their staff were friendly, helpful and polite throughout our visit. The old world ambiance of the hotel added to the enjoyment of our stay. The food was good both in terms of quantity and quality. The room was "unique" in terms of it's position, large size and shape. However, it was clean an quiet and a pleasure to stay in.
The price was amazing and the breakfast and service superb!! We were really impressed.
The pillows, but im searching here, we were really impressed.
clean and good value, super breakfast
The staff were very friendly and helpfull and the food was fantastic both breakfast and evening meals. It was a great base to visit Oxford, Banbury and Blenheim Palace.
No details of room given on booking. Room was in the attic with two steep and narrow staircases and numerous steps and corners to negotiate ! Hot water took ages to arrive.
Relaxed atmosphere conducive to a short break. Excellent food. Friendly staff.
Bedroom slightly dark for reading. Needed an additional table lamp. Shower facilities only an overhead.
The room was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The food was of a high standard and the choice of evening meals was excellent. The bar kept a varied selection of ales and the wine we chose with the evening meals was very good. The staff were very helpful and attentive and made our stay very pleasurable. The location of the Red Lion was ideally situated for our visits to Waddesdon Manor and Upton House.
The antiquity of the place and the lovely local walks. Both Banbury and Oxford within striking distance.
Location to "The Cotswolds" and Oxford Room. Was comfortable and a good size
The shower was a problem as you got wet turning it on.
Great little quirky pub with small but confortable rooms, staff were excellent, food was great and reasonably pricved, would stay there again.
Very quaint with uneven floors and the food was pretty good too.
Bin in the bathroom had not been emptied, yuk!
We liked the ambience, the service and the quaintness of the surroundings. The food was very good as were the staff throughout the hotel.
narrow stairs and hard pillows, the stairs come with the period building but anyone slightly older than us would not have managed them to get to the bedrooms as far as we know anyway. The pillows were hard and not at all comfortable, a minor irritation.
A fine, generously-proportioned and very comfortable room, with warm and helpful service.
Very quirky, quaint place to stay, excellent staff and great food.
